Election Day is in exactly three weeks! While the races at the top of the ballot get a lot of attention, it’s at the local level that decisions are made that affect our community every day. Your attention to the Oakland School Board races makes a big difference for kids and families in our City.
We are in our final push to make sure I have the support of North Oakland. Here are three things you can do to help our campaign finish strong:
- Canvass with us – meet the voters! This is the most effective way for us to reach people. It’s fun to explore new neighborhoods and meet your fellow Oaklanders.
- Phone bank! If you can’t make one of our Sunday evening phone banks, we can set you up with a list and a script and you can call at your convenience.
- Make sure you have a yard sign and/or a tattoo! We’re running out of yard signs, so get yours now. We can deliver a sign, or you can pick one up at 480 Hardy Street or 6315 Chabot Road.
To get involved, send me an email, email@example.com, or click on the Volunteer link at votejody.com.
There’s one more candidate debate for the District 1 School Board race, this Wednesday, October 17, 7:30 p.m. at Oakland Technical High School, sponsored by the Tech PTSA. What better way to top off the Presidential debate than coming out to a local forum? It’s really great when there are friendly faces in the audience.
While I have your attention, I hope you will vote YES on Measure G1. This parcel tax of $120/year for 12 years will allow Oakland’s middle schools to build out elective programs and allow the District to provide an additional raise to all employees.
Thanks for all your support! I hope you can join us on the campaign trail.
